5ive - Hesperus [2008]

I actually thought 5ive broke up after the stuff they did as 5ive's Continuum Research Project, but it turns out they have a new record this year.  Only it's on Hydra Head.  Lame.  Still, the actual record kills and it's up there with my favorite material of theirs.  First song is a mammoth and the rest is just as good.  It's not quite repetitive and it's not quite dark, but it's comfortably in between those two for a really solid 'instrumetal' record.  I will be buying this and I hope they tour and continue to release shit.

Holy Fuck - Holy Fuck [2005]

I know these guys toured with !!! and I knew what to expect of their sound but I still only listened to the record today.  I'm ashamed because it's great.  It's sorta like !!! but not as funky, more electronic-sounding but in a really hard way, and not many of those Daft Punk-like transitions that are so damn good.  I think this will get a lot of play in the coming weeks and I have to check out their other material now.

Bullfrog - Bullfrog [2001]

There's some 70s krautrock group with this name but this is Kid Koala's backing band.  It's a basic funk record I guess.  Well-produced and all that, not as boring to me as the usual funk I try out.  I'm really only crazy for garage funk type stuff like Calypso King and Salt, but I know I'll listen to this more.  I have to look into finding some live shows of theirs or something they've done with Kid Koala, I feel like that would be much better.
